Downton Churches respond to Covid-19

Although all church services have been cancelled, the churches would like to stress that they are still in the business of supporting people who might need help in these difficult times.  in line with government advice, none of the church buildings is open, but both Downton Baptist Church and St Laurence have already started trialling putting services on-line.

On-line services can be found on the Pastors message page of the website ( This is being updated every week, with recordings, videos and links.  The church is aiming to come up with something special for Easter Day, as well as a good Friday service.  You can follow a link on the home page of the web-site for prayer requests - but for those people who are not on-line, both ministers are available to be contacted by phone and would be very happy to help and support anyone in whatever way they can. There is a new feature on the church web-site called '40 words'.  Church members are invited to submit poems, reflections, thoughts, quotations, prayers - of up to (and no more than!) 40 words of 'wisdom and encouragement' - to help and benefit others.

St Laurence is also producing a daily email reflection.  Details of this and its on-line services can be found at and  The Downton Parish News will be available as a downloadable pdf through the website.  The church is continuing to collect for the Trussell Trust foodbank, for which the need is greater than ever.  If you wish to donate, there will be a box at The Vicarage in the porch by the front door.

If you need to contact one of the churches, you can do so via their websites / email or phone:
