Baby Bank opens
A chance to donate pre-loved baby items to a good cause
Did you know that there is a local “Baby Bank” which collects good quality, pre-loved items such as clothes, toys and equipment, and distributes them to families in need? All items are cleaned and, where necessary, safety checked. The charity can also distribute new items donated directly from the public, and is linked with local food banks.
The Baby Bank has been set up to help alleviate families experiencing hardship in Salisbury, Downton, Fordingbridge and surrounding villages by providing new and good quality pre-owned items, in addition promoting recycling and reducing unnecessary waste. Donations should be in good, clean condition, with clothing being freshly washed and sorted into bags labelled with the correct ages. The charity’s Facebook page has an updated list of what they currently need. There are some items which cannot be accepted for health and safety reasons: mattresses; car seats; breast pumps; bottle teats; dummies; drop sided cots; cot bumpers; sleeping pods/positioners; sit in baby walkers; door bouncers; bumbo seats
Access to support from Lover Baby Bank is based on third-party referral by professionals such as community midwives, health visitors and family support workers.
