The Wardrobe goes from strength to strength
Visitors from far and wide
Volunteering at The Wardrobe is often full of unexpected moments - its fame and popularity has spread far and wide, with October’s event attracting over 100 visitors. A recent customer was so impressed by the variety of quality, free clothing on offer that she face-timed her Granny in India on the spot. Jerry, one of the organisers said, “I was serving refreshments at the time, but it was quite surreal seeing and speaking to someone in India!”
On another occasion a customer (originally from Spain) who had travelled from Poole was explaining about the change in her circumstances this year - as has happened to so many people - and confessed to sharing a love of musicals with her friend - this resulted in an impromptu sing-a-long of “I could have danced all night” from My Fair Lady. Jerry again: “Sometimes you cannot make things up - even in tough times there are many joyful moments.”
The Wardrobe takes place at Downton Baptist Church from 2 - 3:30pm, one Friday a month. The first few Wardrobe dates for 2024 are 19 January, 16 February and 22 March.
