Downton Band

A summer of music

Downton Band

The next opportunity to listen to The Band will be a free concert “Brass on the Grass” at The Moot on Sunday 13 July at 3pm.  Many readers will have come across at least one of the 3 bands (Senior, Training & Beginners) at the Cuckoo Fair, where they played throughout the day.  “It was lovely to receive so much support from the people that stopped to listen and a great start to our summer programme,” reported a band spokesperson. The Band will be playing at this year’s New Forest Show at the end of July, and then competing in the entertainment contest at The White Horse, Stourpaine on August 10.

Beginners Brass is offering the opportunity to learn a musical instrument for just £1 a week.  It is designed for people who wish to start playing, or who are looking to come back to music after a break - or who want to try a new instrument. Tuition, music and expertise are provided, along with the loan of an instrument. All you need to do is bring yourself and your enthusiasm.  People of all ages are welcome and families are particularly encouraged to come along and learn together. This band meets on Tuesdays during Wiltshire term time, 6.15-7.15pm - contact Miriam at downtonband@gmail.com.
