Horticultural Society Autumn Show

At the Society’s recent Autumn Show, Melvin Ward was awarded the Banksian Medal for winning the most prize money and the William Barnaby Cup for scoring the highest overall points. His vegetables won the Stone Cup as well as the President’s Bowl for the best exhibit of vegetables. Dahlia-growing champion was Andy Savage, who won both the Avon Cup and a Silver Medal and Card for being Dahlia Championship winner. Neal Hatch was the runner-up. Graham Edwards had the best gladioli exhibit, for which he was awarded an RHS certificate, and also won the Captain Hutson Cup for his gladioli. Mark Hatcher won the Coronation Cup and was awarded a Silver Medal and Certificate for his exhibit of Chrysanthemums (pictured), which was the best flora exhibit in the show. He also won the JGS Mitchell Cup for his chrysanthemums. Ted Perren won the A E Holman Cup for the best flowering pot plant, as well as the Miss Parminter Cup for the highest points in the fruit section. Heather Borelli won the Floral Art Cup for achieving the highest points in the Floral Art section, as well as the Iris Sherman Memorial Trophy for the best exhibit of floral art. Jen Shutler’s Dundee cake was the best in show, winning her the President’s Cup, and Laura Jerome won the Tannery Cup for the highest points in homecraft.
