Local produce at The Bull
The pub is working to use local sourcing where possible
Mike Moody, landlord at The Bull, is working hard to source the items on his menu as locally as possible. Most of the meat is supplied by the Moody Cow Farm Shop, based at Gouldings Farm in Ringwood - this includes dairy products and beef. The farm also keeps sheep and pigs. Other meat comes from Salisbury market, including the Wiltshire ham on the menu. Mike says: “Our emphasis is on quality - we choose menu items to use the best quality produce available. Traceability is important.” Free-range eggs come from Fluffet Farm in Wimborne and are used throughout the menu. The Bull makes its own sausages - and pies are also made in house. The ethos is all about local suppliers and minimising waste. Although vegetables are more of a challenge to source locally and consistently, Mike and new chef, Simon, are proud of their home-cooked roast potatoes. The Bull uses local suppliers for its fish, and is currently putting together a fishing package for visitors, in conjunction with Rockbourne Trout Fishery.
Food is served at The Bull seven days a week. If readers mention the InDownton newsletter they will be given a 10% discount during September.
