Millennium Green needs volunteers

Urgent appeal for help

Millennium Green needs volunteers

Do you have time, skills, experience to share?  Are you retired or wanting to continue your professional development?  If so, The Downton Millennium Green Trust would like to hear from you.

Since 1997 volunteers have given their time and skills to create, maintain and improve the Millennium Green, four and a quarter hectares of ancient water meadow alongside the River Avon in Downton.  The Green is a beautiful, quiet, and much valued part of the village for locals and visitors.  The practical work includes grass cutting to create pathways, maintenance of hedgerows, tree planting and the provision and care of bench seating.

The charity is managed by a small group of trustees who meet several times a year to review, run and plan for the future. As the current trustees are getting older, there is now a need for new members to work alongside the existing committee and eventually take over.  There is now added urgency, due to the resignation (for personal reasons) of the current chair and treasurer.  Without people in these key positions, the Trust cannot function.

The trustees appeal to everyone who values the Millennium Green: “Our charity has been well-managed with strong leadership and excellent financial management. Please consider volunteering to work with us to keep the Trust going so that The Millennium Green continues to be a favourite destination for all.”

If you would like to join the committee and work alongside the current team, or volunteer to help in another way, then please contact either: Richard Walker (07423 054053  or Sue Larkin (0746 4976958
