The village Platinum Jubilee celebrations include two concerts, as well as the lighting of the village beacon.

Pictures of Thursday's concert are available here.  The concert started with the Downton Jubilee Band, followed by  ‘The 7 Decades of Queen Elizabeth’s Reign’.  Directed by Jane Seden, with Musical Director, Kate Edgar, the concert featured: Downton Drama Company, Downton Community Choir, Paul Borrelli and other singers.  The collection in aid of the Primary School raised over £700.

Later that evening, at 9:30pm, the Beacon was lit (along with 100s of other beacons throughout the country), accompanied by singing the National Anthem.  Pictures of the beacon lighting here.

Unfortunately, the planned concert in the Moot has also had to be cancelled for safety reasons, due to the weather..

On Saturday 4 June a World War II Lancaster bomber was due to fly along The Borough Over Downton but unfortunately this has had to be cancelled due to weather conditions at Exeter Airport.
