InDownton Newsletter
The community newsletter for the village of Downton, Wiltshire
20 Years of InDownton

The newsletter's first edition was published Christmas 2005
The first issue of InDownton came out in December 2005. It was a newsletter that would go to every house providing village information for those that don’t use social media. It would aim to bring out the best in our village, supporting local organisations and providing a platform to bring people together and be interesting to read.
The first issue had four pages, no adverts, and brought together the churches’ Christmas services. There were four issues a year, until 2012 when it increase to five, part from a break during the pandemic when the online site expanded. Today, the newsletter has often had 20 pages helped by increasing advertising which has also helped add colour on many pages.
InDownton has documented the village’s growth and changes.
It all happened because of the support of Downton Baptist Church which has underwritten the cost. Advertisers, contributors and a great team of deliverers have kept it going. The editorial team are so grateful to them all as we prepare to see what the future brings. And thank you for the great support from our readers, which always motivates us to keep going!
