Another season draws to an end

The Downton Bowling Club green will close on Saturday 20 September after the completion of league matches, friendlies, and club competitions, opening again at Easter next year.  League Performances (as of mid August): Westbrook MTL team: positioned in the bottom half of the table; eliminated in the cup semifinal; Bournemouth & District Triples, Section 4 (Saturday): Bustards 3rd, Dragons 5th/10, with three matches remaining; New Forest Division 4: 5th/8; eliminated in the second round of the cup. Final league positions and club championship results will be published in the next edition.

Twelve new members joined this season, with several joining league teams.  Amongst those new members, the club welcomed its first wheelchair user, Ian Dixon, along with his wife Elizabeth.
The club is sad to report the deaths of longtime members Rosemary Foster and Bob Tanner in June and July.  A spokesperson for the club said, “Their contributions to the club over many years was immense & they will both be greatly missed.”
