Downton garden designer wins awards

Downton garden designer David Long won three awards for his show garden “Grandfather’s Garden - a trip down memory lane” at the recent Gardeners’ World Spring Fair at Beaulieu  - a Silver Merit, the Gardeners’ World Magazine Subscribers Award and the People’s Choice Award. There were 13 show gardens on display, and they had to be built in only two and a half days. During the 3 days of the show, over 25 thousand people visited.  David says, “My garden was a scaled down representation of my grandfather's cottage garden, where I spent a lot of time growing up and it is where my gardening journey started. This was my first show garden and it felt right to base it on the garden where my passion for horticulture and wildlife began.   I was very pleased to win the People’s Choice Award, which is decided by visitors to the show, as I'd had so many positive comments on the garden over the course of the weekend. ”
