Downton Link co-ordinators

Volunteer co-ordinators are needed for Downton Link, an organisation run by local volunteers who offer help with transport and act as good neighbours for people in need, regardless of age or circumstances.

The Link serves residents living in Downton and nearby local villages, providing transport for such activities as hospital, surgery, dental and optician appointments, shopping, hairdressers, visiting friends or relatives in hospital, collecting prescriptions, library books, social and house visits and taking clients to day centres. They also provide a befriending service. There is no charge for the service but the Link depends on donations from its users to help run the service.  Volunteer drivers receive a mileage allowance and training / information / social events are organised twice a year.

Coordinators take calls at home on the Link phone, and enter client requests into the computer. No experience is needed and training will be provided. For more information and an informal chat please call Downton Link on 513807 or email info@downtonlink.org.uk
