Parish Council - new community plan
Looking forward to the next 3 years........
In August, the Council approved a new three Year Plan. The main aims of the plan are: improving the health and wellbeing of residents, working with local groups to enhance the local environment (including street scene, public green spaces, footpaths, climate, rivers, overall image of Downton, Charlton All Saints, and Standlynch, road safety), respecting and preserving heritage, and working with local groups to encourage commercial prosperity.
Amongst the short term plans - to be actioned in the next six months - are the tree planting projects, investigation of river sustainability, and a redesigned website. Over the next 12 months, the council will work on several more initiatives, including identifying interest in running a “Men’s Shed” to support a volunteer workforce and commissioning a sustainability audit of council owned assets. Over the three year period, various other projects will depend on available funding. The council would aim to refurbish the public toilets and push for increased surgery facilities.
Copies of the plan can be picked up from the Library and the Leisure Centre, or will be on the Council’s website from mid September. The plan will be reviewed every six months so that it responds to changing needs and ideas.
