“Happy New Year - and I hope everyone was able to enjoy the festivities over Christmas.
I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to contact the police - either to report an incident, or a concern that something is about to happen. A vehicle registration / description of those that you see can be very helpful. This information is also used to ascertain where and when our officers in Salisbury need to be on their patrols – and this is key to us being able to catch and deal robustly with offenders.
I am here to help and will do everything I can to request more police patrols in our village, especially during the hours of darkness. However I would still encourage you all to be vigilant and take extra measures to secure your properties. This may mean: upgrading your locks; parking your vehicle right up against your garage door; reinforcing windows or doors that are perhaps unused or less frequently used; installing security lights and CCTV cameras. This is not an exhaustive list, but it all helps.
In addition, it’s a good idea to check sheds and outbuildings. Despite best efforts to deter criminals, we are still seeing sheds/garages being broken into in the south of the county, with tools and other valuables being stolen. Most of these crimes are opportunist thefts that only take a matter of minutes, sometimes seconds, to happen.
Please look after each other and protect your property.”
