River Festival

Local firm offers match funding

The Downton Riverfest 2024 aims to help local groups and businesses which are missing funds usually raised by the Cuckoo Fair this year, by helping them to collaborate on a series of events throughout the year. The idea is that instead of all running separate, small events, they join together to raise funds at fewer, but larger events which draw larger footfall.

A local business is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this year, and has offered to match fund up to ten local groups on any fundraising events they run as part of the Riverfest. This means that it will donate the same amount that each group raises through Riverfest events this year, doubling their income, up to £1,000. Email editor@indownton.org.uk to apply for match funding.

Upcoming Riverfest events are:

Sunday 9 June: Duck Race with Downton Primary School Association, live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/InDownton, 3pm. Buy ducks from The Borough Cafe, Stable & Wick, Downton Tyre and Autocare and Hair Art.

Saturday 15 June: Picnic & Pooh Sticks with New Life Community church Downton, 12.00 - 15.00 at Downton Memorial Gardens.

Saturday 6 July: Lover Garage Sales, 08.30 - 12.00 around Lover.

Friday 19 July: Suite Jazz concert at St Laurence Church, 7 pm

Saturday 21 September: Goose Fair at St Laurence Church, 10am - 2pm

Sunday 22 September: MOOT FEST, 11.00 - 17.00 at The Downton Moot.

If you are planning an event and would like to join it to the Riverfest and become eligible for match funding, add your event to the calendar at www.indownton.org.uk/river-festival. If any local groups wish to join existing events, they can find contact details for all involved here too.
