Downton History Group are appealing for budding historians with an interest in all things Downton to come forward and get involved.  The group was formed in 2005 by a small band of interested people with the aim of recording the recent history of the village.  Over time, archives have been accumulated and artefacts collected - some of these are displayed upstairs in the library with much else stored behind the scenes.  They have organised talks and events in the Memorial Hall on subjects of local interest and have a website (developed with Lottery funding) and a Facebook page.

 

The current committee - some of whom have been involved since the beginning - feel it is time to 'pass the baton on' to a new group of villagers who can grow and develop this important village asset.  If you want further information on what this might entail please contact one of the current committee members as below:
